He was more than a little excited. His dream had been to serve as missionary in Africa. The Lord seemed to point him that way three times before in the last 20 years. Each time, the Lord led him to the answer “not yet.”
Meanwhile, a brother pastor was spearheading WELS assistance to Christ the King […]

Vashti is a new Christian. Hebrew-speaking Israelis came to her part of mainland China to be agricultural advisors. Their language intrigued her. Vashti heard there would be an intensive ten-day, four-hour-a-day beginning Hebrew class taught by Professor John C. Lawrenz of the WELS seminary in Hong Kong. She enrolled. At the end of ten days […]

Some of you may wonder what I do for fun. Living in the ever-growing and happening city of Lusaka has its advantages over other places in Zambia. In the past 10 years or so, there has been a lot of money put into buildings, namely office complexes and shopping centers in Lusaka. This is mostly […]

My family and I are located in Blantyre, Malawi, Africa. We have been serving here for about 5 years. My husband, Rob, is a bush missionary in southern Malawi, spreading God’s Word to over 13 congregations and to thousands of Malawians each month.

Hello Again,
I am writing to tell everyone about my experience yesterday. We were suppose to have our internet installed yesterday, but it didn’t happen (we are not surprised). The installation man was suppose to come around 2pm and Bill decided to stay home so he could be there when the guy got there. I then […]

Our LWMS visitors decided they like the bush churches. Like yesterday in Yala area SW of Ogoja. Rural village, small church, short walls, tin roof not far overhead, over 200 eager women plus a few men and lots of children crowded into every space. About 100 degrees indoors.

Once a month Pastor Villares holds worship services with the church in Lisbon. We went along this past weekend and had a great time! We stopped part way and had traditional roast pig in a city along the way. In Lisbon we visited with some of the church members, went out for dinner and spent […]

More than a year ago, we got to know Carlos Cezar. He was invited to a youth meeting by a neighbor, Christiane, who is a communicant member. She is the only member of her family to participate in our church. When I asked Cezar last week why he continued to come after that first meeting, […]

The temperature was certainly hot in the beach city of Krabi in southern Thailand, but it was the Holy Spirit that was on fire during a recent outreach trip by a WELS mission team to the city in early April.
About thirty youths attended a three-day English camp put together by the mission team, who traveled […]

Our church building in Dourados was recently repainted. The improvements to the front of the church were funded by interested Christians of the WELS, and we appreciate this help.
The sign boards you see on the sidewalk in front of church are our first attempt to attract the people who walk and bicycle by the church […]

She seeks them out. She draws them out. Nigerian kids of all ages love to flock to Carol Egelseer on the LWMS April visit. This morning we worshiped at Christ the King Lutheran in Calabar. This congregation has children in the worship service instead of closeted away for Sunday School. You could hear their voices […]
